AFL Play Schools is a nationwide education initiative that uses Australian Rules Football to engage students through curriculum-aligned learning experiences that promote physical activity, teamwork and healthy lifestyles.

Working at Kimberlin Education, I contributed across virtual classroom experiences, interactive learning modules, educational resources, illustration systems and national marketing campaigns, helping evolve and extend the AFL Play Schools visual language across a growing ecosystem of learning resources.

The result was a cohesive suite of educational resources that supported teachers across Australia while creating engaging and consistent learning experiences for students of different ages.

Virtual Classroom Experiences

A series of virtual classroom experiences connected students across Australia with AFL players and ambassadors through engaging, curriculum-aligned live learning sessions.

  • Developed for lower and upper primary audiences, each presentation balanced educational content, interactive activities and visual storytelling to create engaging live experiences tailored to different age groups.

    Alongside the presentation design, I created supporting visual assets and a national marketing campaign that helped promote the program to schools across Australia. The series achieved record participation, demonstrating how thoughtful educational design and recognisable role models increased engagement while reinforcing key learning outcomes.

AFL Healthy Kicks

Healthy Kicks combined movement, nutrition and classroom learning to encourage primary school students to build healthy habits through engaging, curriculum-aligned educational experiences.

  • Working within the AFL Play Schools visual framework, I developed a range of educational resources that connected physical activity with classroom learning through illustration, information design and visual storytelling.

    By simplifying complex health concepts into engaging and accessible learning materials, the resource suite supported teachers while helping students build confidence, knowledge and lifelong healthy habits.

AFL LEARN AND PLAY

Learn and Play introduced Australian Rules Football through a comprehensive suite of curriculum-aligned resources that combined physical activity, skill development and classroom learning.

  • I designed a broad collection of educational resources including teacher guides, student worksheets, assessment tools, instructional diagrams and classroom activities that supported Foundation to Year 6 learning.

    A key part of the project involved creating a library of custom diagrams and visual learning assets that translated AFL skills, drills and gameplay concepts into clear, accessible teaching resources. The resulting toolkit equipped educators with a comprehensive suite of resources to confidently deliver engaging AFL-based learning experiences while supporting curriculum outcomes across health, physical education and personal development.
