Optus Digital Thumbprint is an award-winning digital literacy initiative that has supported more than 700,000 primary and secondary students nationwide, helping young Australians develop the skills and confidence to navigate the digital world safely and responsibly.
While working at Kimberlin Education, I contributed to a broad range of resources for the program, creating educational experiences that helped students, teachers and families navigate topics such as online safety, digital citizenship, cyberbullying, misinformation and responsible technology use.
My work spanned multiple educational formats and audiences, including interactive learning modules, virtual classroom presentations, online quizzes, educational resources, marketing campaigns and visual communication assets. Working across both primary and secondary education, I helped create engaging learning experiences that translated complex digital topics into accessible and age-appropriate content for students, teachers and families.
Illustration System
To support Digital Thumbprint's secondary school resources, I developed a library of over 25 custom illustrations designed to communicate complex digital concepts in a clear, engaging and accessible way. The illustrations were created as a flexible visual system that could be applied consistently across a wide range of educational and marketing materials while remaining relevant to a teenage audience.
The illustration library was adopted throughout the Digital Thumbprint ecosystem, appearing across interactive learning modules, classroom presentations, family guides, marketing campaigns and digital communications. As the program evolved, the illustrations became an established part of the Digital Thumbprint visual language and were incorporated into the official style guide for ongoing use across future resources.
The result was a cohesive illustration system that helped create consistency across the program while making digital literacy topics more approachable, engaging and memorable for students.
Marketing & Communications
To support the ongoing growth of the Digital Thumbprint program, I designed a range of marketing and communication assets that helped promote workshops, educational resources and digital learning opportunities to schools, teachers and families across Australia.
Working across digital advertising, EDMs, display campaigns and promotional materials, I applied the established illustration system to create engaging and recognisable communications that remained consistent with the broader Digital Thumbprint brand. The challenge was to balance educational messaging with strong visual engagement, ensuring complex digital safety topics remained approachable, relevant and accessible to diverse audiences.
The resulting campaign assets helped extend the reach of the program while reinforcing a cohesive visual identity across both educational and promotional touchpoints.
Interactive Learning Modules
To support Digital Thumbprint's online learning experiences, I designed and maintained a suite of 11 interactive LMS modules spanning both primary and secondary education. The modules combined educational content, custom illustrations, interactive activities and multimedia elements to help students explore topics such as online safety, digital citizenship, cyberbullying and responsible technology use.
Designed to be engaging, accessible and age-appropriate, the modules formed a key part of the Digital Thumbprint learning ecosystem, providing students with self-guided learning experiences that complemented classroom and virtual learning programs.
Family Guides & Activity Sheets
To support learning beyond the classroom, I designed a range of family guides, activity sheets and take-home resources that helped parents and carers engage with important digital literacy topics alongside their children.
Working within the Digital Thumbprint brand framework, these resources translated complex subjects such as online safety, artificial intelligence and responsible technology use into accessible, engaging and age-appropriate learning experiences. The challenge was to balance educational content with clear visual communication, ensuring resources were informative, approachable and easy to use for both students and families.
The resulting materials extended the reach of the Digital Thumbprint program beyond schools, providing practical tools that encouraged ongoing conversations around digital citizenship and online safety at home.
Virtual Classroom Presentations
As part of the Digital Thumbprint program, I designed two large-scale virtual classroom experiences for primary school students, helping translate complex digital literacy topics into engaging, age-appropriate learning experiences. The sessions explored themes including Generative AI and online safety, as well as kindness, empathy and respectful relationships in digital spaces.
Working within the Digital Thumbprint visual framework, I developed interactive presentation decks that combined educational content, activities and visual storytelling to support live delivery. One session featured Supercars Champion Chaz Mostert, helping connect key messages around positive online behaviour and digital citizenship with young audiences in an engaging and relatable way.
The resulting presentations formed part of Digital Thumbprint's broader educational offering, providing schools across Australia with accessible and interactive learning experiences that encouraged meaningful conversations about technology, online safety and wellbeing.
